About Equine-Assisted Coaching
-
Horses are masters of authenticity and nonverbal communication, responding instinctively to energy, emotion, and intention. Their immediate, honest feedback makes them powerful partners in uncovering strengths, identifying challenges, and fostering meaningful change. Equine-assisted coaching leverages this unique ability through unmounted, ground-based activities that promote self-awareness, leadership, and personal growth. In our sessions, the horses are the true coaches—we simply guide clients in tapping into their wisdom.
-
In an equine-assisted coaching session, clients engage in hands-on activities with horses—such as observing, leading, or guiding them through exercises—to gain insight into their emotions, behaviors, and communication patterns. Sessions begin with grounding and intention setting, followed by experiential activities where horses provide real-time, nonverbal feedback. Guided reflection helps clients connect their experiences to personal or professional challenges, fostering self-awareness, confidence, and clarity. No riding is involved; all interactions happen on the ground. Sessions are ideal for leaders, professionals, and individuals seeking personal growth, stress relief, or deeper self-understanding.
-
Equine-assisted coaching benefits a wide range of individuals, including:

Equine-assisted coaching differs from equine-assisted therapy in its focus, approach, and intended outcomes. While every interaction with animals is inherently therapeutic—proven to reduce stress, lower anxiety, and help regulate emotions—coaching is not therapy. Equine-assisted therapy is a clinical practice led by licensed mental health professionals to address psychological conditions such as PTSD, anxiety, or trauma. In contrast, equine-assisted coaching is a personal and professional development modality focused on self-awareness, leadership, confidence, and growth. As coaches, we embrace the present while guiding clients toward what comes next, using the horse as a mirror for insight and transformation. The emphasis is on forward movement, goal-setting, and behavioral shifts rather than processing past trauma.
-
We offer private coaching, typically as a series, to support personal growth and transformation, along with group and team retreats designed to enhance communication and leadership. Our new community membership, Equus Collective, provides exclusive access to ongoing enrichment experiences at the ranch. Additionally, we host a variety of events, workshops, and collaborations throughout the year, welcoming the community to engage, learn, and grow with us.

We deeply appreciate horsemanship and riding, but our program is designed to cultivate deeper connections with the innate wisdom of horses. Our sessions are entirely ground-based, focusing on self-awareness, communication, and personal growth rather than riding or traditional horsemanship lessons. While we provide basic safety and horse-handling guidance, our true focus is on learning with the horses in a meaningful and transformative way. If you're craving time with horses—but don’t want to ride or are looking for a new way to connect with them—our programs are designed for you!
-
Nearly everyone can benefit from equine-assisted experiences, and we strive to accommodate as many people as possible, regardless of physical, mental, or emotional barriers. That said, safety is our top priority, so we may need to modify or limit interactions with the horses in certain situations. Horses have a profound impact on individuals, including autistic and non-verbal individuals, trauma survivors, those in rehabilitation, and children of all ages. While not every program is a perfect fit for every individual, we’re happy to tailor experiences to meet your needs and serve your community. If specialized support is required, we can bring in co-facilitators, such as therapists, to enhance the program. If you think you or your group could benefit from our services, don’t hesitate to reach out—we’d love to explore the possibilities with you!

As our political and physical environments undergo massive transitions, horses are invaluable partners in helping us adapt, build resilience, and navigate external influences. They teach us how to downregulate, stay present, and remain alert without succumbing to fear, overwhelm, or doubt. As sentient beings, they guide us through uncertainty with wisdom and grace. Living in herds, they remind us of the power of community and the importance of collective support. Horses model cooperation, conflict resolution, and peaceful coexistence—lessons we need now more than ever as we step into a new frontier of profound change.
